I fell aslep about 12:30 last night
With the remote held in my hand
I drifted off and I could see the light
I was dreaming of the promised land
Oh I had a dream last night
But it’s all a little foggy in my head
It was something about brotherhood
And love of all mankind
I spoke with an angel
But I can’t remember what she said
You know as peple we are powerless
Yet we live our lives in any old way
Your people, my people,
We’re all god’s people,
And I don’t guess it matters anyway

And I woke to the sound of the rounds of a .45
And as the ambulance pulled away
I heard a neighbor way,
So young and so full of life.
